My Gawai Celebration

Yesterday was a wonderful day! A visit to a friend's house brings much joy and laughter... First we have 'steamboat' for dinner as the Gawai Eve approaches. Although it was not celebrated in the traditional way, I was absolutely thrilled & happy to have friends whose willing to celebrate it with me.

My favorite Japanese Tofu

After dinner, I took some snaps around her house... Goodness me, lots of toys!

My fiance's sister...

Just right at the corner I found something quite pleasing... a beautiful White Porcelain Peacock!!

Her plumage is so exceptionally gorgeous!

And so we continue the rest of the night enjoying ourself...

Wishing all of the Native Dayaks in Sarawak a Happy Gawai Celebration!

you do look like a chinese :) daphne iking is also part kadazan but she looks chinese too :) my hubby just made a movie with daphne and i was so impressed that she could actually speak kadazan! (in the movie ... tho apparently she had to practice quite a bit LOL!!... anyhow she did it and it sounded quite impressive, at least to me :) do you speak a dayak language?

Actually I can speak a little bit of Mandarin and quite fluently in Hokkien language. My fiance is a Chinese so, thanks to him I'm able to learn these different dialects. Sometimes I teach him my own language 'Kenyah' but he catch no balls...haha

I love Daphne Iking! She is a great TV host... but I do not know she is into acting. It sure will be interesting. Your husband is an actor? Mind telling me which one? heheh..

LOL!!! so you are good at languages!! i think i'm closer to your fiance ;P very lousy at catching languages! i can't even speak mandarin ... my daughter talks to me in mandarin and i have to ask her what she's saying LOL!!! her grandma speaks to her in mandarin so she's quite good :) not her mommy tho ...

daphne was in a movie called BELUKAR. it just finished showing nationwide at the cinema. my husband is the writer and the director :) tho he use to be an actor too ... mostly in malay dramas. he is pretty fluent in BM tho he's chinese. but he's moved on into directing films and commercials which is good ... cos it's a more stable career. :) i dunno if you know him but his name is jason chong.

So luthien, you're not a chinese? What language do you speak at home?

Eeeekkk! I thk I know him, I mean I saw him acting on TV dramas! @_@ What a surprise this is. hehe... Yes, I can see that he speak BM very fluently. Then, I'm sure going to watch this movie definitely! ;)

LOL!! you watch malay dramas too? that's cool!
